Touch and hold an empty area of your Home Screen until the apps jiggle, tap the + button in the top corner, search for Deftly, choose the widget, and tap Add Widget.
iOS refreshes widgets on its own schedule. If the widget looks stale, remove it and add it again, or open the Deftly app once — that prompts a refresh. The app screen always shows the current day's entry.
Each calendar date is run through a fixed calculation that picks one entry from the list. Every device shows the same word on the same day. The picker is designed so consecutive days jump around the list rather than going through it in order, and once the list is on your device the app works offline.
Language is full of close calls, and feedback is genuinely welcome. Email the word and what you would change to jjw7659@gmail.com, and it will be considered for a future update.
No. Deftly has no accounts and no tracking. It downloads its word list as a simple content file so the list can grow over time, but nothing about you is ever sent or collected. See the Privacy Policy for details.
